Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text oftheprinting andtypesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been theindustry'sstandarddummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknownprinter took agalleyof type and scrambled it to make a type specimenbook. It hassurvivednot only five centuries, but also the leap intoelectronictypesetting,remaining essentially unchanged. It waspopularised in the1960s withthe release of Letraset sheets containingLorem Ipsum passages,and morerecently with desktop publishing softwarelike AldusPageMakerincluding versions of Lorem Ipsum.

Itisa long established fact that a reader will be distracted bythereadablecontent of a page when looking at its layout. The pointofusing LoremIpsum is that it has a more-or-less normal distributionofletters, asopposed to using 'Content here, content here', makingitlook likereadable English. Many desktop publishing packages andwebpage editorsnow use Lorem Ipsum as their default model text, andasearch for 'loremipsum' will uncover many web sites still intheirinfancy. Variousversions have evolved over the years, sometimesbyaccident, sometimes onpurpose (injected humour and the like).

Richard McClintock, a Latin professor atHampden-SydneyCollege inVirginia, looked up one of the more obscureLatin words,consectetur, froma Lorem Ipsum passage, and going throughthe cites ofthe word inclassical literature, discovered theundoubtable source.Lorem Ipsum comesfrom sections 1.10.32 and 1.10.33of "de FinibusBonorum et Malorum" (TheExtremes of Good and Evil) byCicero, written in45 BC. This book is atreatise on the theory ofethics, very popularduring the Renaissance. Thefirst line of LoremIpsum, "Lorem ipsumdolor sit amet..", comes from aline in section1.10.32.The standardchunk of Lorem Ipsum used since the1500s isreproduced below for thoseinterested.
